Traditional Concept Shape Thumbnail Animation (It won't fit in the Title text box)

Anyways, this isn't really a "Flash" flash animation... but more of a stepping stone of classic animation I got a sneak peak at doing... only in Tradition matter using concept shape. It was suppose to be on animation paper… but time was running out… so the detail version was never done. ^^;

*asks Santa for a Light-Table and a Condo for 3 people and for him to pay for my monthly payment for Christmas*

Anyways, to give some sense (and I hope your reading this) fps – frames per second, each second in animation is 24… this animation was 7… so there going to be empty frames/sequence in-between (I forget what the word is called, I think my friend know the word) So… I cut this down to 6fps so you can see it better.

And this is the character I made at my college, most likely him and Cobalt will be animated. I just have to copyright them and improve on both their style.

Enjoy

Oh my gosh! What an interesting animation! And well done too. :)

This is really good CobaltWinterborn, I've always gone for the traditional way of animation, unlike nowadays 3-D has taken over the market and the general public's perception/expectation of todays cartoons are what ever is in 3-D. X_X;;

Not saying that I dislike 3D animation at all! XD They're great and fantastic (ie. Toy Story, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles etc..) but the fact that traditional animation is soon dying is a something that I feel is a shame. = (

I hope that artistis will continue to use the traditional methods for special occassions. Like how you have done in this animation. It's simple but effective. ^_^ I'm sure you had a good practice run on this one. Do keep up the awesome work in college buddy. *thumbs up*

Man if I ever had the extra time I would actually do an animation of Tails from Tails Away just walking portrayed from side angle. ^^

Actually traditional 2d animation will never died. Because when storyboarding for 3D animation... its in an 2D animation (thumbnail) animation (but not like mine of course)

I love the traiditonal animation and the 3D Animation.

And if you're thinking of doing "Tails Away" animation... you better get yourself a Light Table... unless you already have one, which I need myself ^^;

But if "Tails Away" becomes animate and Naka-san gives the rights for the go ahead... I hope I can get on that team :D . That will be a dream come true, my foot is somewhat in the door in Disney, because 3 of my teacher are were animator for Disney ^^; and they're hard teachers.

But thanks for your comment ^^

That is really cool! :D Great job on the animation. I also think it's cool how the whole thing is all scanned pencil drawing and not digitally done like you see a lot of now days. :thumbsup:

I just used Flash to make my frame more into animation. This was all scanned in and put in frame by frame.

I do, this took 6 hours to do. And in the real world the quota is 30 frames per day, so that's rough, detail/contour then clean up per frame... all traditional... not digital.

That's why one episode of the Simpsons take 6 months to do... and they have a team of animator doing it.

Ouch >< I could maybe do that, but I'd have to work on it for most of the time I have. Must be really tough to complete...
